Crimea annexation, 2014
The idea behind the "Blue/Yellow" social movement was created by Jūratė Sližytė in 2014, and the movement became an official organization in the same year when Paulius Kijauskas and Jonas Ohman founded the organization "Blue/Yellow" (VšĮ „Mėlyna ir geltona“). Over the course of eight years of passive warfare, funds were raised, connections were forged with Ukrainians, a support network and infrastructure were established, an understanding of the conflict and its participants was acquired, and a clearer picture of how to act was formed. Since 2014, we have been in direct communication with the parties, preparing for the future conflict that eventually took place.
A full-scale invasion of Ukraine, 2022
On February 24, 2022, in Lithuania, "Blue / Yellow" was the only purposefully operating support fund, where one million euros were raised on the first day. The experience accumulated over eight years allows us to work efficiently, responding to the actual situation on the front lines. We deliver support purposefully, sometimes within very short timeframes. We are prepared for a long-lasting conflict, therefore, we strive to implement a long-term support model both in Lithuania and abroad. At times, we collaborate with other organizations (e.g., "Radar," 14 million euros), and at other times, we shoulder the responsibility at the national level, such as supporting assault units when tactical equipment is critically needed.
